Northern Italy (Italia settentrionale, Nord Italia, Alta Italia) is a geographical and cultural region comprising the northernmost part of Italy. It includes eight regions: Piedmont, Aosta Valley, Liguria, Lombardy, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Emilia-Romagna. This area covers about 120,300 km² (46,450 sq mi), representing roughly 40% of Italy’s territory and home to approximately 27.5 million people-about 46% of the national population.
